Nicole's diverse practice stems from commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with an emphasis on advising Italian clients on contractual disputes and insolvencies, primarily in the fashion industry.
Nicole has also acted in a number of fraud cases, especially with cross-border issues, and has represented both claimants and defendants in applications for worldwide freezing orders. Nicole is now involved in all aspects of contentious intellectual property representing individuals to multinational entities.
She has also acted in several public law matters, including challenging decisions of the Minister of Justice, the Committee for the Affairs of Jersey and Guernsey and Her Majesty's Privy Council in relation to the Channel Island of Sark's constitution.
Highlights
She has acted in a number of reported cases, including:
- NAD Electronics Limited v. NAD Computer Systems [1997] FSR 380 - acting for the claimant in a successful trade mark infringement case in which there was a use of own name defence).
- Shirin Guild v. Eskandar Limited [2002] EWCA Civ 316 - successfully defending a claim for infringement of copyright and design right in the designer clothing field.
- Patent infringement cases in the electro-medical equipment and mechanical engineering sectors.
- Sir David Barclay & Others v. Secretary of State for Justice & Others UKSC (2009) 019 regarding the new constitution of Sark.
- Hotel Cipriani & Others v.Cipriani (Grosvenor Sreet Limited) (2010) EWCA CiV 110 - acting for the Defendants in a trade mark infringement and passing off action regarding the name Cipriani.
Publications and speaking engagements
Nicole is a regular speaker to Italian lawyers and accountants on English civil procedure. She is the Co-author of (copyright and trademark sections) of the UK chapter of 'World Intellectual Property Rights and Remedies' to be published by the Centre for International Legal Studies (CILS).

On a personal note
Nicole is a qualified fitness instructor as well as a solicitor and greatly enjoys keeping fit in and outside the gym. She is not only bilingual but bicultural Italian/English and maintains very close ties with Italy where she was born and grew up.
